Book Reviews

Our primary mission is to find good content that is free, low cost, or of exemplary quality, focusing primarily on the output from indie and micro presses. As a result, we have broadened our mission from reviewing ebooks alone to reviewing chapbooks as well, which we believe, like ebooks, don’t receive the attention they deserve.

Requesting a Review

We accept requests for review from publishers, authors, and publicists, and often find books to review on our own as well. Please let us know in the body of your email if you would like the review to come out close to the release date of your book or early (if provided early), and we will do our best to oblige. Be sure to include the ISBN if it has one, the price, the release date, and where your book is or will be available for purchase. Your book does not have to be a new release to be reviewed. We like uncovering older gems as well as newer ones.

If you’d like us to review your electronic book, the book must be available at Fictionwise or other large download based seller (All Romance eBooks, Mobipocket, eBookmall.com, etc.). Please send an electronic copy in PDF to our submissions address with “REQUEST FOR REVIEW” in the subject.

Please follow the same guidelines for review of your chapbook. Chapbooks do not have to be available as ebooks. If you do not have an electronic copy of your chapbook, please send a request for our mailing address to the submissions email address.

Opinions are funny things. Everyone has one and ours may very well be different from yours. Please be prepared to ignore our review if you don’t like it. We won’t mind.

Submitting a Review

You may submit a review of a work that fulfills our criteria for possible inclusion. The word count limit is 1,000 words and the review must be balanced and fair. We accept reviews from authors, artists, and industry professionals as well as avid readers or interested parties. We require that reviews by authors and other industry professionals be of books that are not published by their own publisher, or demonstrate a clear and imperative reason why we should accept the review (an insider’s view, one book in a comparison of many in a genre, etc.), and the relationship between the author and the book reviewed be made transparent to MD readers within the body of the review.

If accepted, your review will be treated as any other submission and will be paid at our standard rate of $5.00 via PayPal and a contributor’s bio. Please contact us at our submissions address for more information on how to see your book review in the pages of Membra Disjecta.
